DEPARTMENT OF Electronics AND COMMUNICATION Engineering

Electronics Engineering and Industry have tremendous potential in improving the standard of living for solving socio-economic problems and to achieve the objectives of growth and employment.

This department, which was started in 1998 has well qualified staff and fully equipped laboratories. It has 19 Teaching staff,5 Technical Assistants and one Technician to render service to the students.

Periodical tests are conducted to identify their weakness and  to coach them in their studies. Weaker students are identified and additional coaching is given. Students are encouraged to take industrial visits and In Plant Training. For every 20 students one faculty advisor is allotted to monitor their attendance, discipline and academic activities. Class committee meetings are conducted periodically to get feedback from the students. The department conducts seminars and workshops in various fields to  mould the students to face the global level challenges.

The departmental association “ELECTA” gives opportunity for students to share their knowledge about the present state of Art in Electronics and communication engineering through discussions and deliberations. This association conducts a National Level Technical Symposium-“METEORIC” every year. Paper presentation and various other competitions are conducted to help students to visualize the new world with improved technical skill.

Our students are encouraged to participate in Paper Presentation and other competitions conducted by other institutions.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN THE DEPARTMENT:

 FIBER OPTICS LAB:

We have 6 Fiber Optic Trainer Kits to perform the following experiments: Analog & Digital data transmission. Voice transmission, Numerical Aperture Measurement, Analysis of LED &Photodiode characteristics.

 COMMUNICATION LAB:

Sophisticated communication Trainer Kits are used to perform various types of modulation like QPSK,ASK, PSK. Coding like NRZ, AMI, sampling of signal, Calculation of spectral density of noise.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING :

TMS320C50DSP starter kit from Texas Instrument is used for the design of various Filters, Spectrum analysis and date transmission.

The MATLAB 5.2&6.0 version software performs the calculation of FFT, various types of convolution and differential Equation solution.

LIC/DIGITAL LAB:

12 bit & 20 bit digital IC trainers are used to construct sequential and combinational circuits like counters, Shift Registers, Multiplexers &Adders IC 741 (Op-amp_ performs various linear IC applications like Schmitt trigger, log-antilog amplifier etc.,

ELECTRONICS LAB:

The Characteristics of Different specifications of diodes and transistors are studied using necessary accessories. Frequency response of power transistors is plotted using high frequency range equipments.

 RF LAB :

RF signal source, Spectrum analyzer with tracking generator, Network analyzer are some of the equipments used in this lab. The analysis of various types of Ferrite devices and components are performed by using trainer and analyzer with necessary accessories.

 MICROPROCESSOR LAB:

Microprocessor Trainer Kit 8085,8086,87087 are available for performing basic logic operation using 8-bit and 16bit data, data transmission, Matrix operation, Code conversion and signal generation, PC based function generation can also be performed using available Interfacing cards.

Micro controller 8031 and 8051 are used for data transfer and for finding whether the given number is positive or negative. The available Microsoft macro Assembler adds the features of Microcontroller.

ELECTRICAL LAB:

This lab well equipped with DC series motor, Compound motor, Shunt motor, DC rectifier and loading Rheostat to analyse the characteristics. Alternators,3Phase and 1 phase transformers and Auto transformers are used to conduct various experiment.

 MICROWAVE COMMUNICATION LAB:

Microwave benches equipped with Klystron power supply, Gunn diode with accessories like Directional coupler, Slide screw tuner, Matched termination and Microwave Antennas for measurement of impedance in microwave ranges and gain calculation of Antennas.
