DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING :

About the Department :

Electrical Engineers are involved in the Generation, Protection , Transformation, Distribution and  Application of electrical energy. They are also involved in the field of the electricity that lights our home, cooks our food and empowers our machinery. The department was started in 2006 - 2007 with an intake of 60. The department has nine faculty members.

It is highly essential that the students should be aware of the developments in the field of power, Modern Power Electronics, Control of Power System and measurements of power parameters, business in a state of flux, speed thought and competitiveness are the critrria, which separates the best from the rest. Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department growth was exponential in all good activities. It is one of the strongest academic section of the college. It is well equipped with the state-of art facilities, laboratories and better infra structure which are also regularly upgraded which add to the strength of our team with their strength in top gears. The courses curriculum is periodically updated with inputs from the industry to facilitate better comprehension of the emerging technology like power system simulation designs. Highly experienced and dedicated faculties shape the students into engineers with all round expertise. The department aims to impart technical education to students and satisfy all the requirements needed for the  industrial environment. We impart quality engineers to rural and urban students thereby producing competent,  disciplined and quality engineers to serve the society and the nation. Also we offer the young minds a transformational education for the students to be the leaders of tomorrow’s technological, economical and the social upliftment of the country. The department’s ultimate goal is to kindle the creativity and new thoughts among the students by providing them a lot of basic and advanced latest information and to make a brightest way for the career and higher studies for the students.

Objectives:

The educational objective of the Electrical and  Electronics Engineering programme is to bring together the faculty, staff and capital resources to prepare our students for the successful pursuit of graduate studies and for life long learning in Electrical and  Electronics Engineering and related fields and to endow our student with a sense of professionalism with encouragement  of professional ethics, professional licensing and active participation in the affairs of the profession.

Teaching faculty information:

Consistent with the high standard of excellence aimed by our institution, the faculty comprises a team of carefully selected and highly qualified persons who have proven record of meritorious accomplishments to their credit. The staff strength according to the norms prescribed by  All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, and affiliated to Anna University. The department has highly experienced, dedicated staff members. Many visiting professors from industries are taking seminars frequently on various recent technological concepts. The EEE department has the motto to raise the level of this institution to the center of excellence in the field of teaching.

INFRA STRUCTURE:

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB:

                       In  this lab, experiments are being conducted on Dc shunt Generators, Dc Compound Generators, DC Series and Shunt Motors, Single Phase and Three Phase Transformers, AC Machines which includes Synchronous Generators, Synchronous Motors, single Phase and Three Phase Induction Motors and Three Phase Alternators.

CONTROL SYSTEMS LAB:

                       In this Lab experiments are being conducted on DC Servomotor, AC Servomotor, Linear System Simulator, PID Controller, Closed Loop Position/Speed Controller and Synchronous Kit. MATLAB Software is also used in this Laboratory.

POWER ELETRONICS LAB:

                       In This Lab experiments are being conducted using SCR,MOSFET,TRIAC And IGBT<IGBT based Single Phase PWM Inverter Module, Single phase SCR based Half Controlled and Fully controlled Converter and Resonant DC to DC Converter Module.

Special Coaching In The College:

                      Periodical tests are conducted in regular intervals to coach in their studies .Weaker students are identified and additional Coaching is given. Students are encouraged to take industrial visits and In plant training. For every 20 students one faculty advisor is allotted to monitor their attendance, discipline and academic activities. Class committee meetings are conducted periodically to get feedback form the students. Special coaching is given in communication skill and personality development to make them employable. Training and placement cell is making every effort the students to the industrial requirement.

Counseling:

                Each student is attached to a counselor who will fully responsible of guiding the poor students and encouraging the merit students both in academic and personal issues. For every 10 Students one Faculty advisor is allotted to monitor their attendance, discipline and academic activities, Class committee meetings rae conducted periodically to get feedback from the students
