INTRODUCTION

            In our march towards the progress and apogee of achievements and excellence, we have crossed one another important milestone by occupying a new separate building for our portal of knowledge and wisdom is our Library. Our new three storied library building is having 7790 Sq.ft plinth area. The library is a vast storehouse of knowledge with over 32,099 volumes and more than 90 regularly subscribed journals including foreign online journal Springer link, Delnet. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Standards, and Bound volumes of Journals, Technical Reports, and Theses. It also has a collection of over 1950 resource Compact Discs, and Video Cassettes under various titles. The multimedia section of the library comprising of Interactive Multimedia CDs caters to the software needs of students, and more books are being added every year. In addition, each department has a Departmental Library to cater to the needs of the students for textbooks and reference books.

           

The collection of text books, reference books, national and international journals in all branches of Engineering, Science, Technology, Management and General Studies is ever increasing year by year. The books are classified according to Dewey decimal classification scheme.

            The collection is rich and diverse, especially in terms of the breadth and depth of coverage, to support the support the learning, teaching and research need of the college. Students and staff can surf the availability of books through LAN connected computers. The library functions from 9 am to 6pm on all working days. The open access system observed in our library is very much helpful to our students search and select the required volume.

             

    Our College Library is the primary knowledge for students and faculty members only to update their knowledge but to keep abrupt of the latest advances and achievements in their fields treasure hour an outstanding means of learning, catering to the ever-growing and uncompromising information and intellectual requirements of the students and the faculties. To improve the English knowledge of the students, a rich collection of English literature is made available. The reading room of the library is spacious, well illuminated and can accommodate many students.

            The library is completely computerized. The library uses Dolphin Software (Online Public Access Catalogue); the users can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author’s name, title, subject, and keywords available on the campus LAN. Our digital library has 10 systems with internet connectivity. As a Library budget Rs.Five Lakhs is allotted every academic year towards the collection and addition of books and periodicals.

            With the generous contribution by the Management and the special interest taken by the Principal, the Library is being updated steadily and systematically on a regular basis.

SERVICES

            The library offers computerized catalogue search services through the OPAC. Sufficient numbers of PCs are placed in the user area for the students and faculty to access the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)

            The Central Library provides a sufficient space for reading purpose. The total reading area in the library is 3781 Sqm. and a sufficient gallery area is also left for frequent movement to the users.

            The Central Library provides audio-visual and multimedia facility to its users. One room specially designed meant for accessing Reference Databases, CD’s with books, CD’s with magazines etc. A reach collection of CD’s Audio, Video cassettes, floppies etc. is arranged subject wise which can be found very easily. So our college library will cater al the needs f various sections of student & faculty Xerox.

            Library staff has been placed on photocopy services to operate machine. Based on requisition, Photocopies of the library documents are made available mainly for academic purpose. Reverse osmosis water purifier has been installed to get purified water to quench the thirst of students.

            Students and staff are provided with “Bar Coded Identity Cards” to available the facilities of the computerized library.
