National Service Scheme

             National service Scheme provides diversified opportunities to students in colleges to develop their personality through community services. Community services rendered by  students have covered several aspects like adoption of villages for intensive development work, mass tree plantation, technology transfer programmes, technologies for rural development, various training programmes for self-help groups and rural youth etc.,

           The motto or watchword of the NSS is “Not me but you”.  It  underlines  that  the  welfare  of  an  individual  is  ultimately  dependent  on  the  welfare  of  society  on the whole.  This  express  the  essence  of  democratic  living  and  upholds  the  need  of  selfless  service  and  appreciation  of  the  other  man’s  point  of  view  and  also  consideration  for  fellow  human beings.

           Trichy Engineering College encourages extracurricular activities like NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME for the benefit of students. The college has two NSS units with  programme officers M ARUN PRASAD- unit I , T RAJA-unit II who were actively involving in organizing various programmes .

Details of various programmes organized in the college

          A special camp was conducted at 94-kariyamanickam village from 11-02-11 to 17-02-11 during which various programmes like medical awareness, law awareness, food and health awareness, tree plantation, campus cleaning in the village, government primary health center Kailasanathar temple, Vinayagar temple , repaired the road, created the awareness of education, prevention of child labour by cultural awareness, conducted various games to the village children, the awareness of eye donation,  organ donation, female child education , prevention of child labour.

Yoga and its importance was explained to the villagers and also demonstrated before them. Our Anna university NSS programme Coordinator Dr. SREERENGA RAJA made a special visit to the village and participated in the AIDS awareness programme and also Mr. Sai Ram from NSS regional center Chennai made a visit to the camp site.
